What is Global Habit?
Global Habit is a free, browser-based geography game. You compare two countries — population, GDP, area, Olympic medals, peak elevation, and more — and decide which figure is higher or lower. Get one right, your streak goes up. Get one wrong, the run ends.
The aim is to make learning about the world a small, low-friction habit. One game takes about a minute. Five rounds in the World Cup Daily takes thirty seconds. The hope is that, after a few weeks, you start to recognize that South Korea actually has fewer World Cup wins than Croatia, or that Mongolia's capital is colder than Reykjavík.
How it works
Pick a category from the home page. We pull two random countries from a pool of 196 and show you one country's number. You guess whether the other country's number is higher or lower. Every correct call extends the streak; one wrong call ends it. The higher your streak, the better.
For the World Cup Daily, we pick the same two nations and the same five categories for everyone, every UTC day. Score 0 to 5. Come back tomorrow for a new matchup.
Where the data comes from
We use authoritative public sources for every category. Population from the UN's World Population Prospects. GDP per capita from the World Bank. Area, life expectancy, and coastline from the CIA World Factbook. Tourism from UN Tourism. Olympic medals from the IOC. Peak elevations and World Cup statistics from Wikipedia.
Stats are refreshed quarterly. If you spot a number that looks off, email us — we'll check the source and update if needed.
Free, no signup
Every category and the daily challenge are free to play, no account required. An optional Google sign-in lets you carry your score history and streak between devices. We never sell user data. The site is supported by a single Google ad shown on the game-over screen, which keeps everything else clean.
The atlas-magazine look
The design borrows from old-school atlases and magazine layouts: cream paper, italic Georgia headlines, ink-on-page typography, no gradients, no glow effects. The hope is that a game about the world should feel a bit like opening a printed atlas.
Who's behind it
Global Habit is built and maintained by a single developer who wanted a tiny daily ritual that taught geography by accident. Feedback, corrections, and feature requests are welcome.
